Censorship and Offense.

Lately, it seems everyone in the world is so fricken' sensitive. When did we as a people become such whiny sacks of water? Just now on Facebook, I posted something and private messages came in. "ooh you can't say that" or "that's a horrible image" One of the images was my bee post. I didn't make it, but I sure as hell found it funny.

The other day I commented on another post a "friend" had posted. The post was related to how Home Economics has disappeared from schools. And that kids don't know how to sew, or cook for themselves. Then an EA (Education Assistant) chimes in that ALL parents should be responsible for teaching their kids. And I thought... fuck! that's closed minded. What about the 1.6 million homeless kids here in my home province who don't have parents to show them this stuff? what about them. All I replied to her post with was that by her mentality we might as well just keep our kids home and teach them everything. And it got me mad. Real mad. Mad that the education system is so flawed. Here is an employee telling parents to do their job. Yeah, I'm open minded enough to stop and see where she's coming from. There are parents out there who genuinely don't give a rats ass. I've seen em' and I know a few. It's sad and unfortunate. But to call me out on it. Please. I don't think so. The way the system is setup here with the 'No child left behind model' kids get pushed through school regardless if they learn the curriculum and then spat out at the end. How the hell does that help? kids need to learn to Fail. Fail Fast, and Fail often. That's how we learn. That is why our wins mean something. They've removed context. It's an ugly world out there at times. Teach our kids to roll with it. To learn that setbacks and mistakes still lead to success.

Arrgh. This is my blog. My safe place to rant and jump around and make some noise. If you're reading this then maybe something I'm posting is entertaining. Or, maybe you agree. I trust you're grown-up enough to know how the browser works and that you're not forced to be here. If you stay I will do my best to be myself and that's the most I can promise.

I am a crazy 40 something male Canadian. Father. Artist. Designer. Dreamer. Human. Earthling. Trying to make heads or tales of this thing we call life. And if in the least leaving it here in a blog is therapeutic.

So that's my rant.
