Ever since I heard about this I thought, wow we're one step closer to the Green Goblin. Which is kinda awesome save for all the evil that comes with it.
From what I am to understand (and take that with a grain of salt) things started with the fad that came along where people fly around on a jet of water.
But why stop there. I mean you're tethered to the ground still, and the lake for that matter (or ocean). So with some further digging and some innovative thoughts they got the idea of standing ontop of a drone. Some of the larger ones have some powerful motors, and with that they made this.
The board was really big and clunky in it's initial incarnation. So they perfected it a little more and now they have the second wave of Flyboard.
They get it working so well it can outrun a jet ski.
